A well-prepared hospital bag can be very handy and useful at
the time of delivery and labor. You could use the list provided by your
hospital as the base and add on your own things as per your needs. Preparing the hospital bag could be divided into the following
sub sections: Carry your health insurance papers and other specific forms
that your hospital might need. Putting a pen is also a good idea. A list of
telephone numbers of people in your contacts. The labor room checklist would consist of massage oil,
rolling pin incase you have back pain, a pair of socks, lip balm and a watch to
time contractions. Carry a change of clothes for him and his basic toiletries
like brush, toothpaste etc. A few snacks for him could also be taken along. This list is a little long and consists of a robe, nursing
bra, extra panties, night gown, slippers, a pillow, socks, sanitary napkins and
all your toiletries like brush,
toothpaste, hairbrush, lip balm, deodorant, shampoo and soap. This checklist is very exiting and fun to collect. You would
need a receiving blanket, burp cloths, booties, mittens, diapers, towel and
toiletries for your baby like shampoo, soap, powder and comb. Carry a bottle
just incase you don’t get milk soon. You would definitely want to have your good memories at the
hospital recorded. Carry your camera, camcorder and necessary attachments with
them. Check if the batteries are well charged. A baby book would also be a good
idea. You could carry along make-up for good hospital photographs.
A hair dryer could also be put in. Cd’s, magazines and books are also a good
idea. So now you are
getting back home and the first and foremost thing that comes into your mind is
a comfortable car seat for your baby. See to it that you take pains in choosing
a good car seat that applies to all the norms. You need to have yours and your
baby’s outerwear decided depending on the weather. Prepare your hospital bag slowly and steadily, as you
wouldn’t want your partner going back home for things often. Its better to be
safe than sorry.
